We are currently facing issues across a number of off-grid sites on the network, due to low winds, very low temperatures, the general lack of daylight (and sunlight) and then the snow which is now covering the solar panels.
Whilst it is likely to affect some customers more than others, when there are issues at masts, traffic where it can re-routes over other links. This however puts more load on those links leading to congestion.
For those customers who connect to off-grid masts, we'll try to keep things running, but the ground conditions make it very difficult to reach some of these sites safely, and when we do manage, it takes considerably longer than usual.
This photo was taken by Marty at sunrise this morning at the off grid Colzium mast over looking the Pentland Hills. Snow now cleared and ice scraped, now onto the next one!
